Education

To empower the holistic development of our student athletes in an immersive environment that is safe, demanding, innovative, and fun.

Multi-Faceted
Approach

Academy Life
Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy understands our players’ wish to thrive in the classroom as well as on the court. Players who attend school in Charleston have early release options, allowing them to still train full time. Players in online school programs are free to use the program that best suits their needs. We prioritize each player’s academic success and monitor their progress weekly. On-site academic tutors spend time with students each week to ensure players are excelling in their academic work. We prioritize providing access to additional academic support to players who have trouble balancing their academic workload with competitive tennis. When needed, we also provide SAT prep through an outside vendor.

Life can’t be all work and no play, which is why we offer our athletes fun, nightly activities during the summer, and weekend activities during the school year when players are not competing in tournaments. Activities such as beach games, swimming, paddle boarding, mini golf and movies help our players bond and forge strong relationships that are critical to the academy’s culture.

Online Learning
Students spend several hours each day in our brand-new, state-of-the-art classroom housed inside the Tennis Clubhouse. Designed with Barth Hawtin students in mind, the space supports both independent and collaborative learning. Students identify an individualized learning platform based on their needs and interests and partner with academy staff for ongoing academic support.

LEAPP Program

Supplementing the online school learning is our customized Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Peak Performance Program (LEAPP Program).

  • 1
2 annual, 2-day retreats on Kiawah Island
  • 2
9 monthly seminars where student athletes engage with relevant video content and literature, and participate in conversations informed by the Socratic Method
  • 3
A guest speaker series featuring leaders and entrepreneurs at the top of their fields.

The LEAPP program consists of three core curricular aspects:

In this program, students develop a crisp sense of themselves as leaders; they develop personal philosophies in the areas of teamwork, performance, and community impact; and they gain experience applying entrepreneurial problem solving to real world challenges.

Higher
Education

Charleston Collegiate School

Charleston Collegiate School Early Release Program
Our academy partners with Charleston Collegiate School to provide an academic offering that allows players to leave school early to train within the full-time academy program. Players participating in this option are released at 12 each day to begin training by 12:30pm. Charleston Collegiate also offers tutoring and academic support.

College Recruitment Services
All players in the full-time program are guided through their college recruitment journey. We begin the process early, establishing relationships with schools within our vast network. Outside players also have access to this service for a fee.
